Greening the Games: Food Containers

Samoa will host 5,000 athletes, officials and visitors from 24 Countries, who will compete in 26 different athletic competitions for 14 days.

Samoa leads in planting trees to offset environmental impact of Games travel

As part of the Greening of the Games initiative, international teams arriving by plane in Samoa for the XVI Pacific Games were encouraged to off-set their roundtrip air travel emissions by planting trees before and after their arrival in Samoa.


Rugby 7s at the XVI Pacific Games

Rugby has been an integral part of the Pacific Games and has featured in 15 previous Games. The introduction of the 7-a-side format was first adopted in 1999, with Women's 7s introduced in 2011.
Due to weather the venue was changed to Marist Saint Josephs Stadium, Faleata from Apia Park Stadium.
12 countries competed in the two-day tournament.
