New Caledonia takes gold in men's and women's singles in squash
New Caledonia has won gold in both men's and women's singles in squash at Samoa 2019 XVI Pacific Games.
In the men’s singles, NCL won 4-0 against Papua New Guinea.
The bronze medal for women's singles went to Fiji, defeating Papua New Guinea.
Fiji’s Janice Chan played PNG’s Eli Webb winning decisively 11/4, 11/6, 11/4, 11/8 and 11/3.
The second game between Fiji’s Alison Mua and PNG’s Nicole Gibbs was also a one-sided affair; 11/5, 11/6 and 11/2.
The final game between Fiji’s Makitia Sokidi and PNG’s Olding Sauri was closer; 12/10, 11/8 and 11/7. With a score of 2/1, Fiji won the bronze.

Fast paced action at the Squash on day 4 of the Games
In the women’s singles games NCL won 3-0 against Samoa.
“It’s great when we put the team together," said Opera Manzini from the Samoa women's team.
"We said it would be good to medal and then to play off for gold.
"Silver is nothing to sneeze at so we’re pretty happy. As far as moving forward, there’s a lot of things I’ve learned during the team’s competition, so reflecting on that and cutting down the errors and starting fresh, really.”
