Pacific Games Office thanks all for support
As Samoa marked its 57th Independence Anniversary on 1 June, the Pacific Games Office saluted the leaders who have built the Samoa we have today.
"Independence Day is an opportunity to look back with thankfulness, and ahead in faith. We honour every leader that Samoa has had over the years," said chief executive officer Falefata Hele-Ei Matatia.
With 33 days before the Samoa 2019 XVI Pacific Games, Falefata acknowledged the support shown by Samoa.
"The heart behind our people lies on our motto, 'Samoa is founded on God' (E Faavae ile Atua Samoa) and that has been the same source of strength for the Pacific Games Office. There has been no stone unturned in this project and for that I would acknowledge the great help of the Government of Samoa and our people," he said.

Falefata is certain the Samoa 2019 Pacific Games will be an experience of a lifetime for the athletes and the people of Samoa.
"To host what is now known to be the 'Miracle Games', we are being positioned to bring out the true essence of being a Samoan as our neighbouring countries gather on our shores. On home ground, athletes will be set out on the field to show the best of their potential. We are to be proud of our country and the immense hard work that has been done."
He thanked the Convener of the Games, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, who will compete as a member of Samoa's archery team.
"He walks the talk. Regardless of his age, he is eyeing gold for the Pacific Games. Taking up archery is his way of showing his support for the Games and for the people of Samoa to understand if he can do it, everyone can all do it too."
He continued: "I believe love is the key, and there is a price we pay with the sacrifices that we make.
"We do everything with the love for Samoa, our people and our friends in the neighbouring countries. Samoa we on."
