Niue bowl their way to medal glory
Niue’s lawn bowlers propelled their country onto the medal table at the Samoa 2019 XVI Pacific Games, collecting a silver and two bronze at Lawn Bowl Greens Faleata on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The women’s four of Joy Peyroux, Pauline Rex-Blumsky, Pilena Motufoou and Lyah Liumaihetau, claimed silver after a narrow 16-13 loss to Norfolk Island in the gold medal match. Fiji defeated Tokelau to collect bronze.
Rex-Blumsky said: "It was a really great achievement for us. We just wanted to do our best for our team and our country."

She said Niue's chef de mission, the person in charge of the team, was very pleased with the medal result.
"We've worked hard on our merits to get here. And we're thankful for all the support from everyone. The medal has really boosted our spirits. It's just amazing."
It was not the first medal for Rex-Blumsky as she also won silver in the women's triples at the Port Moresby 2015 XV Pacific Games.
And her husband, Mark Blumsky, was in the men's triples with Dalton Tagelagi and Norma Mitimeti who won bronze on Wednesday too.
Niue's other lawn bowls medal came on Tuesday in the men's pairs.
Lawn bowls continues until Saturday 13 July at Lawn Bowls Greens Faleata. Entry is free.
